Playing around with Earth Safe Finishes

Last week I had my Altered Ladies Art Group over to
Play with Earth Safe Finishes!
They were so impressed with the colors,
the way they shimmered and
they easy way they went onto the paper.

They painted cardstock to make new
beautiful paper that can now be used to make
ATC's or other art projects!

Pictured above is one of the papers
they created...

When Creativity Knocks is an online, reality-based craft show merging the generational gap and combining crafters and creative minds of all disciplines. Designer Ana Araujo developed the idea in 2004 in her craft-filled spare bedroom with one goal, “To teach the world to craft one door at a time!” Through a grass roots effort among friends and family, Ana made this dream a reality teaming up with business partner Scott Pfeiffer. Together they formed WCK Partners, LLC, and took their ground-breaking concept to the World Wide Web. With the addition of her college co-ed “non-crafty” daughter Megan, this mother-daughter duo takes to the virtual airwaves to mentor a new generation in arts and crafts. Stemming from Ana’s philosophy that there should be no price on creativity!, When Creativity Knocks provides an innovative free website solving crafting dilemmas submitted by viewers. With show guests ranging from amateur crafters to seasoned designers, Ana and Megan make everyone feel like part of the family. When Creativity Knocks provides a welcoming platform for up-and-coming designers to showcase their talents while teaching viewers how to create their own masterpieces! This recipe has been essential for audiences in these tough economic times, encouraging viewers to foster their own creativity. The program has also become a pioneering force in product advertisement by bringing new life to the traditional trade show. The show has participated in the annual Maker Faire, bringing its “Craft Studio on Wheels”, a 1964 Airstream trailer, to the massive two-day event. In a series called Giving Back, When Creativity Knocks illustrated how, through the art of crafting, viewers can help their communities. Teaming up with California’s Natural Bridges Monarch Butterfly Reserve, viewers learned how they could participate in Houston's Holocaust Museum’s Butterfly Project, the organization's commemoration of children lost in the Holocaust. Viewers learned to create felt butterflies to send to the museum in its attempt to collect 1.5 million hand-crafted butterflies by 2011. In a special tribute, Megan honored her friend, Christi Williams, to help raise awareness of the National Adrenal Diseases Foundation (NADF), a non-profit organization researching a cure for adrenal gland deficiency. When Creativity Knocks has also participated in the Alpha Phi Foundation for Cardiac Care and helped local high schools. When Creativity Knocks shows viewers that, once again, through crafting, you can help great causes and even help save lives. Viewers of our episodes become part of a greater community and an enormous family of crafters. When Creativity Knocks is more than just a website and its viewers are more than just customers. We work with manufacturers, and their budgets, to showcase their products. We offer our viewers prizes and giveaways to say, “Thank You!” With a weekly newsletter, blogs, episode libraries, video books and a crafting mall, viewers can read about crafting news, participate in crafting discussions and become part of our family. This interaction between the public and us lets viewers know they aren’t just valued, they are family!

Flowers, Flowers who Pressed the Flowers!

I had my Altered Ladies Art Group tonight.
Pictured above and below are some of the projects we made.
We worked with pressed flowers which had been dried.
These are not made into anything yet they will be used in other projects,
I just wanted to share how quick and easy they were to make.
The hardest part was arranging the flowers into something that was looked good.

Bonnie had the flowers all dried, laid out and separated into color groups.
We arranged the flowers, glued them into place and sprayed a
protective sealer on top. Quick and easy.....give it a try!
