Studio Curtains

I finally have curtains up in my studio.....
nearly 2 years after I got my studio moved and set up
I found what I was looking for to make curtains!

I had looked everywhere for curtains but just could not
find any that would fit the windows (or that I liked),
so I knew I would have to make them....

I came across a bolt of fabric at JoAnn's
on clearance for $12, it had 16 yards of
fabric on it and was just what I was looking for!
Something light and airy not to cover the windows
but to dress them up!

Here is what they looked like before!

This is after!

Just a little Window Dressing but I love how they turned out!
They are like window scarfs....

To attach them to the top of the window frame
and keep them in place....

I put bows in the corners
but also wanted these to be changeable...
as I want to make some flowers
for the corners also.

The easiest way to make them changeable is to use
for these I decided to try the
Snag Free Sew-On which
has hook and loop in one.

It is so cool because it is
a one piece design that resists
snagging and lint buildup.
Which is perfect for this delicate fabric
and since they are in my studio
having something that will prevent lint buildup....
is a great idea!

I just cut 2 pieces the same size and
sewed one to the bow and one onto
the curtain....
now when I want to make the flowers
I can just cut another piece the same size
and sew to the flowers....
and not worry about if I need
the hook or loop side since the
Snag Free has both!

Event Signs Made Easy!

I was able to create several POSTER size signs quickly and
easily using my cricut, Beacon's Zip Dry Glue and

If you have not tried Beacon's Zip Dry Glue; it is AWESOME...
if by chance some of the glue seeps out you can give it a rub with your fingers
and it rubs right off leaving the project perfect!
I used one bottle to create 4 of these Poster size signs!

To attach the signs to the stakes we used Velcro Brand Industrial Adhesive Strips!

Curtains for the Nursery

I was able to make curtains for my grandson's nursery with a Donald Duck boarder to match

The tie backs were easy to make using...

which is a heat activated adhesive,
it is so cool, you peel the backing off and it is sticky
so you can place it where you want it....
then you iron it in place and after about
90 seconds it is permanent and washable.
It is just so COOL!

Quick Change Candle Holder

Candles are always the perfect accent
but the cost of candle holders can add up quickly
especially when you do a lot of decorating.

So why not buy the candle holders once
and use Velcro Brand Adhesives
to make Quick Change Candle Holders....
There are a variety of Velcro Brand Adhesives to choose from.

Above is a tea light candle holder; gems are attached with Velcro Brand Adhesives.

The gems were removed and this trim was added with flat back beads.

Then the trim was taken off and ribbon replaced it.

One side of the Velcro Brand Adhesive stays on the candle holder
and the other side is on the gems, trim, ribbon or
anything else you choose to decorate with making these
Quick Change Candle Holders Quick and Easy!

Get the color you want with Earth Safe Finishes

While looking for a garter to match my daughter's prom dress we came up with nothing that matched....last year I made her garter and this year I decided to start with a pre-made inexpensive garter...her dress was black with shades of teal and blues...I bought a white garter (as I could not find any black ones)...

Put a dropper of ESF Lampblack Colorant and a 1/2 cup water into a plastic cup.

Dipped the garter in.

Covered it completely.

Took it out to dry.  Once dried it needed to be heat set, using an iron works best but I did not want to iron this as it was a bit delicate so I used a heat gun to heat set it.

I added shimmer fabric and ribbon.

It matched perfectly and was so easy to get the right color....

Donald Duck Nursery Boarder

My oldest daughters favorite character has always been "Donald Duck" so when she found out she was expecting a baby of her own she decided she wanted "Donald Duck" as the theme for her baby's nursery. So the hunt was on for anything and everything "Donald Duck" (to add to what she already had)...but do you think there is anything out there....for a baby's nursery....no, nothing, nada....

Since I had a Cricut Expressions I bought the Mickey and Friends Cartridge which had some "Donald Duck" character images included, so I would be able to create a "Donald Duck" boarder for the nursery.  Little did I know when I started cutting out the images that there would be about 15 - 20 pieces for each image; it's a good thing my daughter always liked putting puzzles together.

They turned out so cute as you can see from this picture above...

I used Velcro Brand White Tak Putty on the back of the images , since it is repositionable and easy to use.

Oh what a perfect boarder for the nursery!

Go GREEN Easy Coaster Calendar

Do you ever take home the coasters from restaurants to use in your ART?
I have been using coasters in my projects for several years....
they come in several shapes and can be used for all sorts of projects....
plus as a bonus by taking them home you are keeping them from the landfill!

I used 6 square coasters to create a monthly desk calendar,
which by the way make great gifts....
you can get started now on 2012 calendars
and have several made for Christmas gifts!

To get started I used scrapbook papers
(which I ran through my 5" Xyron sticker machine)
and attached them to both sides of the coasters.

Pictured is the month of June for which
I cut 16 small scallop flowers using a
to create a layered paper flower
which I spayed with some
(You can check out this
to see how I make the flowers and
I printed the months of the year with my computer.
I matted the month of June with card stock and

The calendar was put together with the
Bind-it-All by Zutter
