Crafty Couture at CHA Summer Show

I participated in the Crafty Couture Challenge at the CHA Summer Show a couple weeks ago and have to admit the entries were stunning....there were a total of 17 entries and I was honored to have my dress displayed on the show floor along with these truly amazing designers.

My entry pictured above was one of the judges picks and will be in an upcoming issue of Cloth,Paper, Scissors Magazine.  I created this dress by re-purposing magazine pages with Earth Safe Finishes Gel Medium and Shimmer Translucents. I applied Expo International Trims with Beacon Fabri Tac and since I was unsure of how it would fit on the mannequin I made the skirt a wrap around and used VELCRO® Brand sew-on fasteners at the waist so it would be easily adjustable if needed.

The other judges picks were:

 Patti Wilkenson

Jennifer Priest: this was done from book pages

 Kathy Cano-Murillo

and

Alexa Westerfield: this was done by screen printing the fabric.

Fan Favorite was:

Candy Rosenberg

Here are the rest of the amazing entries:

Eileen Hull: the bottom half was done with mat board, the top was foil that was inked and the flowers were made from soda cans and Eileen's Sizzix Dies!

Cindi Bisson: the lattice skirt is made with newspaper that was painted and all of those flowers and leafs were made from Makin's Clay.

 Carol Heppner

 Candice Windham

 Susan Weckesser

 Shannon Bielke

 Sarah Hodsdon

 Marisa Pawelko

Lorine Mason: this was hand painted

 Lindsay Obermeyer

Beth Watson: each of these petals were hand dyed and sewn onto the dress!

Like I said the entries were amazing; I am honored to be able to work among all of these talented ladies!  I truly do have the best job in the world as I live in a creative world and get to create everyday; what could be better then that!
